We are working on this now, and hope to have some results soon.”He suggested that being able to identify the gender of a baby would be useful for parents who had severe inherited sex-linked conditions and might want to know early on whether to continue the pregnancy. But Peter Garrett, the research director of the anti-abortion charity Life, said. “Although the technology is neutral, the evidence from around the world suggests people will use this to enable them to choose surgical or pharmaceutical abortions, based on the baby’s sex Selective abortion is morally reprehensible. Even if they have a serious sex-linked illness, the baby has a right to life, and that starts when it begins its existence.”At the start of pregnancy, HCG helps the running of the corpus luteum, a temporary structure formed in the ovary after the egg is shed, which produces the hormones oestrogen and progesterone until the placenta takes it over.Dr Yaron said the differences in levels of HCG must be caused by the way the placenta reacts to female pregnancies, rather than to any hormones produced by the embryo, because at such an early stage there are no glands in the embryo capable of producing those chemicals. The team is now searching for genes that might control hormone output in the placenta, which have been mapped to the X chromosome.. The father of a premature baby whose body was accidentally thrown into a hospital laundry bin and put through a boil wash, today launched an attack on the care his girlfriend received from the health service. We have privately expressed our apologies to the parents.”A search was launched after undertakers arrived at the hospital to collect James’ body on December 13.He was found the following morning on a conveyor belt at the industrial cleaning firm Sunlight Healthcare Services, 13 miles away in Brixton, south London.Mr Kelly was told by police that his son’s body had been through a boil wash.James’ funeral was eventually held on January 3, in Lewisham, south–east London.Martin Roberts, human resources director of Sunlight Services Group Ltd, which runs the Brixton laundry, said James’s body had been found on a conveyor belt by an employee.”Anyone who discovered something like that would be moved by it, wouldn’t they?” he said. “We counselled that employee and he carried on working.”He said the laundry was designated to health care. It was not normal to sort through laundry before washes because of the “foul” nature of some of the linen coming in.”Obviously, it is regrettable from Sunlight’s point of view,” he said.”I know that the hospital has offered its apologies. We discovered the body and we notified the police immediately.”. The Irish rock band U2 began the first stage of their campaign yesterday to save their Dublin recording studios from being demolished. Lawyers for the musicians told a planning hearing that the musical heritage alone should be enough to save the studio from demolition.

More than 2,000 fans have signed an internet petition, in several languages, to save the studio. But the Dublin Docklands Development Authority said the single-storey studios had to be pulled down to allow access to Grand Canal Dock, where a leisure, heritage and commercial area was planned. The band members submitted a formal nine-page objection to the plans, citing the multimillion-pound record sales and musical heritage that have resulted from their use of the Hanover Street premises. The band have recorded in the docklands area since the early 1980s.The authority and the band have already held meetings but no agreement has been struck. The authority used yesterday’s meeting to set out its plans for regeneration of the area, explaining why it sought a compulsory purchase order for a number of buildings, including the studios Four parties have raised formal objections.. A radio station in the Western Isles of Scotland will make broadcasting history today when it gives the first airing of a long-forgotten recording by Frank Sinatra. The tape was unearthed by an American fan and sent to Rodney Collins, a veteran DJ and lifelong Sinatra fan. Mr Collins has spent the past 30 years in radio and used to present a Sinatra show on Radio Luxembourg and Millennium FM in London, before retiring to Lewis two years ago.During his time as managing director of several radio stations across Britain, Mr Collins made numerous contacts with fans around the world, which led to him receiving the forgotten recording two weeks ago.”This is a great honour for me,” said the presenter yesterday “It’s truly a remarkable performance by Sinatra. Despite his age, his voice is still strong and powerful.”The recording, due to be broadcast this afternoon between 4.30pm and 6pm, is unlikely to be heard by more than 9,000 people but news of the broadcast has already reached fans across the world, causing the station to be inundated with calls.

Mr Collins said: “Unfortunately, we are not on the internet so the only way anybody will hear the song is to be on Lewis. Since Sinatra’s death, a lot of new recordings have come to light but what makes this one so important is that it was done professionally.”The recording was made at a birthday concert at Bally’s nightclub in Atlanta in which Sinatra performed along with Sammy Davis Jnr in front of friends.Mr Collins said: “It would be a hard song for anyone to sing for 11 minutes even if they were young, let alone a man in his late seventies. This is possibly one of the last professional recordings of him in concert.”.
